Applying for names in .museum

Names in .museum are available to members of the museum community for use in connection with museum activity. It is not necessary for applicants to have any familiarity with the formal details underlying the domain beyond understanding that there are several policy requirements that MuseDoma is obligated to enforce. The basic concerns are establishing the eligibility of an applicant to register names, the selection of names that adhere to specified naming conventions and, as a separate process, the formal registration of the selected names.

The details of the Eligibility and Name Selection ("ENS") services are described at appropriate spots on the application forms, which can easily be completed without reference to any further documentation. For applicants wishing to have a broader understanding of .museum policies, particularly regarding the naming conventions, several background documents are available. Please note that these have been prepared at various times for different audiences and therefore overlap.

Information about the costs for ENS services is provided at the appropriate spot in the application process. Prospective registrants may wish to note these costs before proceeding. If you submitted a request for a .museum name prior to the introduction of the present ENS services, you may also wish to read further information for previous applicants.
